The White House officially announced the formation of the Gaza Executive Council within the framework of the International Peace Council to oversee the transition, reconstruction and governance in the Gaza Strip, as part of a comprehensive plan to end the war and manage the political and service transition in the Strip.
Within this formation, Major General Hassan Rashad, head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, was appointed as a member of the Executive Council, along with a number of international and regional figures, including Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Western and British officials, which reflects international confidence in the Egyptian role in managing the Gaza file.
This new body assumes responsibilities for supporting local governance, contributing to service delivery and reconstruction, attracting investments and promoting stability in light of the significant humanitarian challenges facing the sector.
For its part, Cairo, through the head of the General Intelligence Directorate, Major General Hassan Rashad, affirmed Egypt’s constant commitment to the success of the work of the Palestinian National Committee for the Administration of the Gaza Strip and to providing full support for the implementation of its tasks, within the framework of the ongoing efforts to consolidate the ceasefire agreement and advance the transition process towards stability and peace.
The decision was praised by Egyptian political figures as a new international recognition of Egypt’s weight and pivotal role in managing the Palestinian issue, stressing that Rashad’s selection reflects the international community’s confidence in Egyptian security expertise as a key factor in supporting peace and stability.
